Bad Dürkheim Travel Guide
A detailed destination guide for your next Germany vacation
Bad Dürkheim Overview
Bad Dürkheim is a town on the German Wine Route in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, capital of the eponymous district. It is located on the eastern edge of the Palatinate forest, approximately 25km to the west of Ludwigshafen (Ludwigshafen vacation rentals | Ludwigshafen travel guide).
The Wurstmarkt held annually each September for ten days over two weeks is the biggest winefest in the world. The first Wurstmarkt was held - however not yet under this name - in 1417.
The main industry of Bad Dürkheim is viticulture. Tourism and health also play a large role in the towns economy, and Bad Dürkheim is one of the few places in Germany in which a graduation tower was in use until it was burnt down by Arson in April 2007 by a misguided and bored youth. According to politicians it is going to be rebuilt. There is also some paper and wood industry in the surrounding area, as well as various technology enterprises.

I love the Bad Durkheim Festival. For wines i love a Ferweisser or a Rieslaner Auslese by Julius Spital/Wurzburg.
